Episode 1- The Real Price For Education

Estephanie's Podcast

About Me:

Welcome to my blog post! My name is Estephanie Velasquez. I'm a 15 year old who is currently attending Fenton High School. As a child, I was always encouraged to do my best in school, and as I have gotten older, the option of college had been introduced to me.

What never really crossed my mind were the prices of college. As I started looking more into my options, I noticed the great costs of tuitions. This sparked up the question whether or not colleges are charging too much.

The average American high schooler would say that they are constantly encouraged to attend college by their school, but is it really that easy and accessible?

In a poll conducted by Edward Jones, 83% of American say that they cannot afford to go to college. With the average yearly cost of college being around $35,000 at private colleges, $10,000 for state residents at public colleges, and $26,000 for out-of-state residents attending public universities, it would be an understatement to say that college is a large investment for certain families. Even with this problem, prices only continue to rise as the years go on.

In "The Real Price For Education" episode, your host, Estephanie Velasquez, will interview a senior soon attending college and a parent of a student who is planning to go to college to see what they have to say about the situation. So think about this, do you think the rise in expenses for college is reasonable or is it just too much?
