Teenage Suicide

The 10th leading cause of death in the United States has been climbing for years. For every age group, every race, every gender, deaths have been rising substantially. According to the CDC, in 1950, only 4.5% of the 15-24 age group in the United States died because of this cause. Fast forward to 2010, 10.5% of that age group died because of this cause. Suicide rates are climbing, but for what reason? Join me as I interview professionals in the field of mental health, adults, and my own peers as we dig deeply into why teenage suicide specifically has been rising over the years.
Hi, my name is Brianna Ketter. This topic is really important to me as I myself deal with depression and anxiety and all that fun stuff. It's really hard to go through all of this alone. I've been super fortunate to have an amazingly supportive family and friends, but not everyone has it that way. I wanted to create this podcast as a way to inform the public on suicide. Hopefully this podcast can open some eyes and show people that a simple "I'm here for you" can save someone's life.
The background information is really eye opening. I knew that this was a big thing that was affecting a lot of people but I didn't know that it was this bad.
